The Process
1. Initial Meeting
Our initial meeting is usually over the phone. Our goal is to simply understand your current situation. This is usually a short meeting designed to determine if we may be able to help you. At the end of this meeting, we will request additional information from you to review. We also obtain the vast majority of our clients from referrals. Therefore, don't be surprised if we ask ton of questions upfront about "How did you hear about us?"
2. Review of Requested Information
This is when we really dig into the deal to obtain a better overall picture of your situation. Often, we will ask numerous questions at this juncture. If we truly feel we can help, we will request an in person meeting.
3. In Person Meeting
At this point, we should have a good idea of your situation. Now, we want to get to know you. This is where "fit" is discussed in depth. As with any relationship, we want to be sure that there is a "fit" between our groups. In addition, the face to face interaction allows us to start thinking about likely financial solutions that may "fit."
4. Engagement Agreement
If both parties feel comfortable, we will draft an engagement agreement. This agreement will outline the services to be performed, the fees involved, and the term of the agreement. Our agreements usually contain an upfront non-refundable engagement fee. Depending upon the engagement, we may also ask for a monthly consulting fee, and/or a completion/success fee. We also include non-circumvention language that protects us from clients going directly to our financial resources without us.
5. Let's Make Success Happen
This is where you will start to meet prospective financial partners. We will manage this process and act on your behalf with the various parties until it is time for an in person meeting. Don't worry, we will have you prepared for these meetings!
Overall, this stage can greatly vary in length. We've had engagements that have lasted only a few weeks, to others that have lasted over a year. Each engagement is different, and tailored to that specific client's needs as outlined in the engagement agreement.
6. The Referral
